Artist Spotlight

Jet Jurgensmeyer is a young artist but has the skill set of a seasoned artist. Jet grew up in Nashville, Tennessee surrounded by musical talent and opportunities. Jet’s parents owned a bar in Nashville where he started performing at a young age. Jet also began acting as a young child and added voice-over work to his talents as well.

Falling Too is Jet Jurgensmeyer's summer song release and it made its radio debut recently. Jet said hearing the radio station personalities play his song and talk about him when he was en route to the station for a radio tour visit was surreal.

Falling Too is a love story, a collaboration written by Jet Jurgensmeyer, Brian Sauerwald, Pierson Swanson, and Kyle Winski. Falling Too is the result of these songwriters being in a songwriting session without any direction to go in at the start of their session. They made a decision that if after about 20 minutes if it didn't get anywhere they needed to take a break and leave to go eat. It must have been a good motivator because, in the next hour and a half, they successfully completed the song. Falling Too is a song about the first young love experience that relates to everyone. Jet's unique style and vocals captivate the emotion in the lyrics for every listener to resonate with.

Jet Jurgensmeyer had another song release this fall which will lead to his much anticipated EP and album, due out at the beginning of 2024. All I Need is a Billy Joel-inspired song explaining that the love of your life should be all you need. Jet explained how you should be energized by that person and they should make you "comfortable to be yourself" around them.

Jet explained that he stays aware of his stage presence because it is all about “helping people forget whatever they are going through. The 3 minutes and 15 seconds of a song can change someone’s life”. Jet integrates his faith into his music hoping it will have an impact on the listener. Jet Jurgensmeyer plays acoustic shows, mostly just him and his guitar. Jet is writing songs about 4 days a week while attending college in Nashville. College has been a relatively easy transition for Jet because of the disciplined life he leads. He said he mastered the skill of sleeping well on a plane by just leaning the seat back and shutting his eyes, possibly from all the travel to and from California with his acting career. One of the most recognizable (for me) was Jet's role on the sitcom Last Man Standing playing Boyd. Jet has had a long list of roles, voice-over work, and currently 2 full albums.

Jet said he hopes to always be learning, and developing his craft and skills in songwriting and performing. The one thing he never wants to be is an artist who doesn’t grow. “When someone says, I do things the way I’ve always done it, that is not good, you have to grow and develop as you age and live your life”.

Jet Jurgensmeyer, thank you so much for talking to me about your recent music In A Country Minute. Travel safely and don't forget to use those brochure tips. chat again soon

Tyra Madison has released two songs recently that I got a chance to talk with her about and also about life in Nashville, songwriting, and of course, her amazing fashion.

Tyra released Hurts a Little Less over the summer. The song was written with a past love in mind explaining that every time there was separation in the relationship, the relationship began to fizzle, and it Hurt A Little Less. Tyra’s expressive lyrics describe this relatable story of a fading love when the other person repeatedly ends the relationship, each time it Hurts A Little Less.

Tyra also explained the story behind Rebound, her latest single. Rebound is about a girl wanting to start a relationship but not wanting to be the Rebound girl for her new love. There are a few basketball references in it understandably from a girl in a sports-loving family. Tyra’s mom and brother were both basketball players and her dad was a baseball player. Tyra said she was always the entertainer in her family.

Tyra Madison moved to Nashville from a small town in Kentucky in 2015, from where you would guess, everyone knows everyone and probably everything about you as well. She remembered being pulled over in high school and not telling her parents, thinking that her dad would not find out but the officer was a friend of her dad's. Moving 3 hours from home, Tyra has made her place in Nashville, frequently writing, recording, and playing writers' rounds and making content for social media during the week, making room for out-of-town shows on the weekends. The writing sessions Tyra has attended have had a variation of talented people to learn from and have different strengths to move forward with in putting together a song. She noted that one song release takes a village of people that can go without recognition, it takes the work of the writers, producers, musicians, mixers, photographers, graphic designers, and text creators working together for every project.

Tyra Madison has opened for many artists including Nelly, Lonestar, Maddie and Tae, Earnest, and Priscilla Block. She enjoys taking photographs with friends and social media interaction and sees a lot of activity on her TikTok. Click the buttons below to connect with Tyra Madison on her other pages.

Tyra Madison's fashion was also a notable topic for us to discuss. Her fashion is a statement of her confidence and taste. Tyra said she gives credit to her mom for much of her fashion pieces for her shows but also has developed her own fun way of styling.

Thank you Tyra for bringing me insight into all the aspects of your creativity and talents In A Country Minute.

Eli Alger is the frontman of the band The Faster Horses. Eli grew up in the Des Moines area, his dad was a University of Iowa wrestling champion, and now is the coach for the U.S. Wrestling team. Eli didn't wrestle like his dad, instead had an interest in music and the culinary industry. After attending community college, Eli considered changing his major to culinary arts while dreaming of studying abroad in Europe. Instead, he attended the University of Iowa and completed his degree in finance. He was part of a 3 piece band where he played guitar, Sam was the bass player (they have played together since middle school), and Logan was on drums. They named themselves the Little Liquor Band and used a scotch glass as their logo. The band was in high demand playing 90s music and traditional country. Playing local gigs on the weekends paid for Eli's portion of his college tuition. Eli Alger relocated to Nashville after graduation and assembled a 6 piece band to pursue music full-time. Renaming the band is a story in itself. Eli’s dad was in Des Moines with the band after a show. The band's name at that time, was Wild Fire and it was not a good fit. Eli’s dad picked up a glass to toast the night and repeated a saying from his own dad, “Cheers to faster horses” which possibly referenced a song but could also have been part of a common Irish toast. Either way, it soon became the new name for the band.

Eli Alger and the Faster Horses play original songs and cover unusual selections from known artists. Eli and the Faster Horses have opened for Randall King, Eric Paslay, Chris Cagle, and Lorrie Morgan. Eli is now a Nashville resident even though recently he’s been gone more than he has actually been there. Eli Alger and The Faster Horses spent the majority of the summer playing at county fairs across a 10-state region. I spoke with Eli while he was traveling to his home state in between shows and covered many topics on the way.

Eli Alger is a self-taught guitar player who learned by repeatedly watching Garth Brooks's Live at the Wynn box set he purchased by collecting cans and turning them in for cash. Eli watched it in the slowest motion available to memorize every detail of Garth Brooks's movements. Eli’s favorite song by Garth is Ireland, he said having the bagpipes in a country song is incredible.

Other artists you can find Eli listening to are Paul Cauthen, Randall King, Jake Worthington, Tyler Childers, he said he'd like to see George Strait live, and Garth Brooks’s solo performance. Eli is a fan of Sturgill Simpson and his album Dood and Juanita has been a big inspiration.

Eli is working on writing music and he is working on an album in a story format about a serial killer. He named the character Cody and is looking for co-writers to work on this concept for this project. The Faster Horses have recently put out the single Blue Bell Bottoms, written by Eli Alger and Houston Daniel Fry.

You will find Eli and the Faster Horses on their social media outlets by clicking the buttons below.

Thank you Eli Alger for the fun conversation and for letting me get to know you In A Country Minute.
